About Me
In common with most people of my age, I have been through most of what life can throw at you and some that lots of people have never been through.
I've known for a long time the value of just having someone to talk to, someone to listen. To recognise, and have others acknowledge that I have that skill of listening means for me that I have to use that skill to help others.
I have studied and practised counselling for over 18 years. I hold the certificate in counselling (level 1 & 2) and have counselled clients specifically with alcohol problems as part of a Crime Reduction Inititative programme in Brighton UK for almost 10 years.
Working with you we would concentrate on improving your ability to face difficulties in life and challenge the ways that you have coped with difficulties in the past. Often the way that you deal with things is behaviour that you have 'learnt', and you CAN learn to behave in a different way.
I believe that you, and all of us, have the ability to overcome life's obstacles.
I will ask you to confront difficult and and personal aspects of your life and I will not make it easy for you!
You need to be ready to make a change and be prepared to work hard to develop your own solutions, with my help and support.
I expect you to be direct, open and honest with me as I will be with you. If you get angry, tell me, if something is too difficult to deal with, talk to me.
My role is to draw things out of you in a totally confidential environment where you feel safe, so that you can explore the reasons why you have this habit, explore with me ways to change your attitudes to your habit and life, and find new ways to cope, and to deal with the effects on you, and others, when you confront the reasons for your habit.
Control of an addictive habit is a journey, the sooner you take the first step on the journey, the sooner you will have some control over your addiction and your life!
